2024 DW entry list revealed

Entries for the 2024 DW closed a few days ago and the entry lists have now been published.

Numbers for the Senior Doubles Class for this year are similar to 2023, with 72 boats entered. There are some notable names in the SD race, with several past winners (and the current record holder) all competing.  Indeed, three of the last four winners are paddling this year, albeit all with a different partner.

However, this is DW, and past performance is no guarantee of success, and there are plenty of other quick boats that will be looking for a podium or better if any of the fancied crews have an issue.

The Junior Doubles has 48 entrants, again very similar to last year. Once more, school entries dominate this class, with only two boats coming from clubs outside this sector. However, last year's winners from Reading CC are back to defend their trophy - can they be first to do that since 2015?

Due to safety reasons, this year's race will finish at Dreadnought Reach on the Saturday, whereas the other Stage Classes will be going to Thames Young Mariners and finish on Sunday.

Entry numbers for the other stage races are somewhat disappointing, with only 11 Senior Singles and four Veteran-Junior boats. Despite the low entry, the Senior Singles will provide some good racing throughout the field.

In the Veteran-Junior Class, the Barking and Dagenham crew look very strong, but can they sustain their expected dominance over the three days?

The non-competitive Endeavour Class only has six entrants. Maybe the fact this class is not going to Westminster has put a few paddlers off - hopefully numbers will return to normal in 2025.
