ThruDark DW partners with Devizes Canoe Club

The Devizes to Westminster Organisation Ltd is delighted to announce that it has formed a partnership with Devizes Canoe Club for the joint planning, running and organisation of the Devizes Village for the 2026 ThruDark Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race.

The Devizes Village plays a pivotal role in the race, with the site being used from the Thursday before the race, right through to Easter Saturday, once the final starters of the Senior Doubles have set off on their journey to Westminster.

And being based locally, just a few metres away from Devizes Wharf, Devizes Canoe Club is perfectly placed to assist with the organisation of the Village going forward, as well as helping to make further improvements to the site going forwards. 

Speaking about the announcement, DW chairman Paul Fielden said: “We are delighted to form a partnership with Devizes Canoe Club for the joint planning, organisation and running of the Devizes Village for the 2026 DW.  

“The club has been a major supporter of the race over many years, not only in providing volunteers to help at the wharf as well along the course, but also in having multiple crews entering the race each year. 

“Whilst many things will remain the same, we will take this opportunity to look to enhance the paddler and supporter experience at Devizes as well as bringing in engagement from the wider local community. 

“The DW Organisation is hopeful that this partnership will grow and prosper for future years.”

Devizes Canoe Club Chairman, Mark Bouch added: “We’re really excited about the opportunity to partner with the ThruDark Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race to plan and manage the Devizes Start Village for the 2026 DW Canoe Race. 

“This is a great opportunity to work together, building on past successes and ThruDark’s sponsorship. We're looking forward to helping shape the future of the race and its profile in Devizes.”

The 2026 ThruDark Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race takes place from April 3 - April 6, 2026.
